My San Antonio pedestrian/cyclist dashboard is now updated with July’s crash data, so now is a good time to take a look at how pedestrians and cyclists fared on San Antonio streets last month.

16 bicyclists were involved in crashes during July, with 1 serious injury, 11 minor injuries, and 4 suffering a possible injury. Fortunately, no bicyclists were killed in July.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of people trying to walk in San Antonio. July saw 2 pedestrian fatalities, both of which occurred at intersections. One of the deaths occurred at North Main and Park Avenue, near San Antonio College, and the other happened at North Zarzamora St. and Laurel St.

3 fortunate pedestrians were not injured in their encounters with cars, but 3 others suffered serious injuries, 12 suffered minor injuries, and 6 came away with possible injuries.

Of the 42 vehicle crashes involving a pedestrian or a cyclist, half occurred at intersections. Unfortunately, vehicular data was not available in July’s data pull, but I will check in a couple weeks when August’s data becomes available.

If you’d like to explore the data for yourself, it’s available on my Github page!
